The Real Reason Giuliana Rancic Ended Her Reality TV Show After 7 Seasons

Giuliana and Bill Rancic opened their home to television crews and E! viewers back in 2009 with the premiere of their reality show, “Giuliana and Bill.” But after seven seasons of filming, the couple decided to take a step back from the reality TV world and cancel the show for the sake of their young son, Duke. 

In an interview with The Huffington Post's Jacques Morel, Rancic revealed that she and her husband chose to end the show in 2014 because they didn't feel comfortable raising Duke in front of the cameras. 

“[The show] was a very rewarding experience, but, at the same time, we needed to pull back a little bit just because our son is 4 and he was getting to an age where ... I don't know if I would have wanted to show cameras at his preschool or him going through certain milestones,” Rancic said.

Although April 2015 reports suggested the family would soon be returning to their reality show, Rancic insisted she'd rather keep her son off-camera for now. 

“Some things have to be private. And Bill and I are very open. We share a lot, but it's our son. And so, until he has a say, we want to just protect him,” she said. 

But that doesn't mean the family has ruled out reality TV in the future.

“Who knows, if Duke gets older ― or maybe Bill and I will do something a little different. So we're playing around with some ideas,” Rancic said.

Renee Zellweger Dismisses Rumors That Ex Kenny Chesney Is Gay

Renee Zellweger and Kenny Chesney's short-lived marriage was a whirlwind. 

The actress and the country singer famously met in January 2005, got married in May and annulled the entire thing just four months later, citing “fraud.” Some media outlets jumped at the odd legal wording and seized on rumors that Chesney was gay, which would explain the “fraud” filing and annulment, rather than divorce.

In a recent interview with the Advocate, the “Bridget Jones” actress opened up about the rumors surrounding her ex at the time.

“I forgot about that. It's a pretty big thing to forget, isn't it? That made me sad,” Zellweger said. “It made me sad that somehow people were using that as a way to be cruel and calling someone gay as a pejorative, which has fateful consequences. Of course, there's the bigger-picture problem of why anyone had to make up a story at all.” 

The actress, who is notoriously private, declined to share more intimate details about Chesney, but commented on the extreme negativity surrounding the media circus at the time. 

“I feel you devalue yourself as a human being when you share very personal things with a bajillion strangers who are making fun of you,” Zellweger said. “I just don't see that there's any dignity in that. But sometimes it is difficult to just let something be what it is, especially when it's unnecessary ugliness.” 

The 47-year-old's comments essentially echoed the statement Zellweger released back in 2005, urging the media to be sensitive about her and Chesney's situation. 

“I would personally be very grateful for your support in refraining from drawing derogatory, hurtful, sensationalized or untrue conclusions and greatly appreciate your understanding that we hope to experience this transition as privately as possible,” the statement read, according to People. 

Chesney has also remained fairly guarded about his first and only marriage. He sort of opened up about it to Oprah in 2010, telling the media mogul he “panicked,” but added that Renee is a “sweet soul.” 

“[I] felt that the idea of marriage made me lose my identity,” the country singer added. “I just don't know that I've found anybody bigger than that.”
